Hitting Goodricke on June 16th

GoodFest is the biggest free annual festival hosted by the best college at the University of York: Goodricke! Originally started in 2009 as a small one-day festival, this year GoodFest is back and is set to be bigger and better than ever!

The entire event will be held around the Goodricke College nucleus on Heslington East, with a bar offering cheap drinks and a variety of food options. In the daytime, there will be many attractions to look forward to, such as a shisha lounge, comedians, poets, local music talent and high-energy games. The evening will see live music acts until 11pm, followed by the official after party at the Glasshouse, hosted by Insomnia Sounds.

Make sure Sunday 16th June is free in your diary, and keep an eye out for more official GoodFest announcements coming soon. Make sure you join the Facebook event for instant updates!

Glass Caves

Glass Caves logo

You might have already seen Glass Caves whilst entering retail therapy through the city centre of York. This pontefract outfit have taken York to their heart busking on the streets every weekend and building a huge following, and even scribing a fan favourite "Eboracum" with the city's Roman moniker.

Busking as a 3 piece, but live and electric as a 5 piece Glass Caves fuse agitated rhythms, yo-yoing guitars and dissonant keyboard sounds with vocals that splinter then soar through their songs. They come at you like a band channelling the spirit of American alternative bands, such as Local Natives and Fleet Foxes, through a very British filter to produce perfectly formed morsels of ballsy alt-rock.

Josh Savage

His performances vary from playing solo, with a string trio, or sometimes with a full band. In one word, you could say Josh Savage is categorised as a “singer/songwriter”, but then that's two words, and many reviewers claim the term does not do his music justice.
